Food you can trust

Our commitment to quality and traceability

At Taylor Preston, we take pride in our long-standing heritage of providing exceptional grass-fed beef and lamb. For over a century, we’ve maintained a deep-rooted commitment to quality, animal welfare and sustainability. Central to this commitment is our robust traceability system, ensuring our products meet the highest food safety standards and uphold the integrity that our customers expect.

NAIT tagging

Ensuring complete transparency

One of the cornerstones of our traceability system is the National Animal Identification and Tracing (NAIT) programme. NAIT is a nationwide initiative that requires all cattle in New Zealand to be tagged with a unique identifier. This tagging system allows us to track each animal from birth through to processing, ensuring complete transparency and accountability.

Our farmers are diligent in adhering to NAIT requirements. Each animal is fitted with a NAIT tag that records crucial information, including its birthplace, movements between farms, and health records. This data is stored in a centralized database, enabling us to trace the journey of our beef and lamb from the farm to your table. Whether you’re a supermarket or hotel chain, restaurant or food service provider, you can trust that Taylor Preston’s meat products are fully traceable and meet stringent quality standards.

New Zealand Farm Assurance Programme

Upholding excellence

In addition to NAIT tagging, our farmers are proud participants in the New Zealand Farm Assurance Programme (NZFAP). This comprehensive program sets benchmarks for animal welfare, environmental sustainability, and food safety. By adhering to NZFAP standards, we ensure that our farming practices are ethical, sustainable, and aligned with international best practices.

NZFAP covers a wide range of criteria, including animal health and welfare, farm management, and environmental stewardship. Our farmers undergo regular audits to verify compliance with these standards, and they are committed to continuous improvement. This means that when you choose Taylor Preston, you’re not just getting top-quality meat; you’re also supporting farming practices that respect animals and the environment.

Animal welfare

Our top priority

At Taylor Preston, animal welfare isn’t just a requirement—it’s a core value. We believe that happy, healthy animals produce the best meat, and we go to great lengths to ensure that our livestock are treated with care and respect. Our farmers follow best practices for animal husbandry, providing their animals with a stress-free environment, access to fresh pasture, water and high-quality feed.

Our commitment to animal welfare is reflected in every aspect of our operations. From the spacious, open pastures where our animals graze to the humane handling practices used during transportation and processing, we prioritise the well-being of our livestock.
